Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field, which includes four bases arranged in a square. The objective of the game is for one team, the offense, to score runs by hitting a pitched ball and running around the bases to reach home plate, while the other team, the defense, attempts to prevent runs from scoring by getting players out through various means, such as catching a batted ball or tagging runners.

The game is divided into two main segments: innings, in which teams alternate between batting and fielding. Each inning has a designated number of outs, and the teams switch roles when three outs are recorded against the batting team. The team with the most runs at the conclusion of the game wins.

Baseball is known for its unique terminology, strategic elements, and rich history, particularly in countries like the United States, Japan, and various Latin American nations. It is often referred to as “America’s pastime” due to its deep-rooted cultural significance in American history. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Official Baseball Rules.
